The Law Offices of Jason J. Elter opened in 2003. It has grown to be a well respected and comprehensive family law firm.
Our office is located in San Ramon,CA, and our practice covers the Bay Area counties of Contra Costa, Alameda, Santa Clara, San Joaquin, and San Mateo counties, as well interstate and international disputes involving California.
Our firm stays abreast of the newest family law changes and utilizes technology to minimize costs. Our firm has long term working relationships with many other prominent family law firms in the Bay Area.
Jason J. Elter, J.D. CFLS
Jason Elter is certified by the California State Bar as a Specialist in Family Law, a certification shared by less than 1% of the entire State Bar. He has practiced family law exclusively since 1997 in California, New York and Colorado.
Jason specializes in complex financial cases involving the division of separate and community property and the tracing thereof, the computation of spousal and child support involving intricate income sources, and highly contested custody and visitation disputes. Jason also routinely handles contested and uncontested adoptions, guardianships, paternity, and same-sex relation marriages and arrangements. He also regularly handles cases that are resolved through mediation and collaboration.
Jason is the Secretary for the Family Law Executive Committee, California Lawyers Association (formerly the California State Bar), the second largest national non-profit legal organization. Jason is currently serving his third year on the Family Law Executive Committee. He was previously Co-Chair of the the Bay Area Standing Committee and is a member of the Alameda County Bar Association, Family Law Section, Contra Costra County Bar Association, Family Law Section and the Eastern Alameda County Bar Association.
In May 2014, the Alameda County Bar Association awarded Jason its "Mentor of the Year Award" for his Pro Bono work. Jason also serves as a settlement conference judge and as a judge Pro Tempore in Alameda County. Jason has also served on the Board of Directors for the Alameda County Family Law Association and is a member of the Earl Warren Inns of Court.
Jason received his B.A. in 1994 from Oberlin College, Oberlin, Ohio and his J.D. in 1997 from Vermont Law School. He was admitted to practice law in 1998 and is licensed to practice both in the State and Federal Courts of California, New York, and Colorado.
